as kindly pointed out by will-h & others my centre mains strap looked a little dubious & is the cause for some concern reguarding the location of my thrusts so here's some pics to show what the craic is:
in this pic you can see the centre mains strap does'nt overhang the sides of the maincap

this is to show the thrusts in place well.........held my me anyhow *happy*

i have 2 centre mains straps, the thinner one fitted & a wider type from minits, the way i see it i could take the main-cap to the machinist & have dowls fitted, or.... use the wider centre mains strap & have a groove machined to help locate the thrust-washers, what do you chaps think i should do, i'm leaning 2wards the wider main-cap with grooves machined in, should'nt take long i dont think, either method????

the wider cap fitted

all help appricaiated by me (the novice) *tongue*

file the block and use the thrust washer with the locator on the block side instead of on the cap side.

I would defo got for the wider strap machined with a slot. If and when you need to replace the thrusts you won't need any machinging to get the dowels fitted to the thrust.

the wider strap i have is giving me jip! 2day! i'm not happy with the fit at all the bolts dont seem to line up as i would like, its a shit fit really & sits wonky whatever way round its fitted!

i'll give simon a call to see if he has the wider type with the cutouts in as per axels, fingers crossed chaps he has one done & ready to rock n roll!

if i used the thinner type what are my options, if i took the block to the machine shop to have the locating grooves machined to the block it'll probobly take them ages hmmmm a prob to overcome but i'll get there! the willpower is strong obe-wan lol *tongue*

Why not use the search button on this forum.. Discussed earlier.

I made my own wide ventre main strap.

i have that thread saved in my favourites, i think i'm stressin without needing too a bit!

mr morespeed has mailed me so i'll give him a shout 2moro to see if he can sort me a strap, pity! if i had some better measuring tools than a shatterproof ruler a piller drill & a milling bit i could make it myself i reckon!

i should invest in stuff like that really

If you need, I do have a piece of steel like the one I used. Will need machining though *wink*
