Hi folks,

As per previous thread, I lifted the back end of my Mini of the floor and spun the rear wheels to see if the handbrake was adjusted ok. Anyway both wheels lock with the handbrake on the second click so I don't think my "brake-pedal-to-the-floor" syndrome is due to rear drums needing adjusting.

Brake lines are bled, no leaks but still no brake pressure and a funny wheezing sound from the master cycliner when I press the brake. So - I'm gonna assume that I need a new master cylinder unless anyone else reckons otherwise????

And the next question - anyone in the North West (am in Horwich by the Reebok stadium) got a spare master cylinder they'd be willing to sell?

Just had a thought - it'll need to be from a servo'd car won't it? 91 J Cooper, plus the Metty Turbo was servo brakes, yes?

Easy test with the master cyl is to remove the pipes from it and screw in some UNF bolts into the thread holes to block them up. If you topup the reservoir before removing the pipes, and let a little fluid trickle out before winding the bolts in, then it will mean there is no air in the master cyl. next time you push the pedal, it should be rock hard. If not, it's definately goosed!
If it is hard, then suspect the valve on the bulkhead... I've heard of similar things with these.

I work in Worsley - if you're really stuck, giz a nod. BTW - there is a 91 cooper in a scrappy in bolton - i'm sure the later servo is still in place. Might be worth a look. PM me for more details...
