It was, the seals in the throttle and choke spindels are well past there best, that carb came off an A reg metro turbo and has never had a rebuild. The fuel got blown past the seals dropping onto the VERY hot turbo/manifold and hit it temperature flashpoint and "hey presto" fire!..

ive never seen a man so cooly get out of his car when its on fire blow it out , get back in and run it back up coooool no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

It did it the day before at Peter Baldwins, i flapped a little then!
