The missus just rang and said that this warning light has come up on the car (ka).

I took this image off the internet but its the light between the ABS warning and Airbag light.



any idea what it symbolises?

check engine light, you need to read the fault codes from the ECU

Yep, engine management.

Most likley cause is supermarket petrol!

Our local TV news has reported that there have been a lot of problems recently with O2 sensors failing due to contaminated petrol from supermarkets.

Usually Tesco though.

ah rite, is this like what happened a few months ago? it doesnt seem to have effected the running in of the car.....

i have a friend comming around tonight to read the fault code from the ecu.

If it does point the finger at the sensors, is there anyway i could get the petrol tested?

Best ring round a few local garages and find out if it is a common problem at the moment.

Check the fuel cap its the most likely cause of CEL's

had a mate around last night, he has a snap-on fault reader.......

turned out to be the trottle posistion sensor

simple disconnected it and reconected it. cleared the fualt and jobs a goodun

all for a tenner :)
