I was wondering about running in my new engine, when it is finnished that is :) I was thinking about doing this outside the car, on a dyno bench, but that is not very practacal to do with a min gearbox. Can I use a sump from a Midget?? Will that sump fit my 1275 S-engine?? What else do I need??

could the engine not just be mounted to an empty mini gearbox casing, flywheel fitted as per normal. Then some sort of drive taken from the flywheel itself?

Thats how our A-Series setup works on the uni dyno

That would be a great way to do it. That way I dont have to buy a new Midget sump :)

some dyno's you can use your proper box. since the engine is connected to the dyno via the crank ( i thought through an adapted flywheel), the box wont affect things especialy when not in gear.

if gear drag is a big thing, cant you just remove the idler gear?

don't you leave it all as it is, and just pull the flywheel?
