Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

why?

normally stays on as it doesnt let the ball come apart anyway.

Im fitting a new single 2"maniflo Exhaust system, and i cant take the old Middle Pipe away from the down pipe, As it's hard to pull off working under The car On ya jack jones, if u get My Drift. *tongue*
So i though i'd take the spring off to Make life easyer for me.
Anyway, i take it that that's not a good Idea.
So, any idea how i can get the blimy Thing off :)
Cheers :)

Take the whole exhaust off and then just stand over it and pull it off :)

id take the complete down pipe off with the exhaust then split it probably be easier.

the clamps not difficult if you weld the bolts onto onside when its off

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Angle grinder. And replace with a conventional spring!

I cant for the life of me take the clamp Off where the down pipe starts from Inside the engine bay. it's well tight..
So my Only option is to do what dave Says, And grind the spring off.
That make my life alot easyer :)
Any off these springs do the job ?

Im leaning as i go along..
Cheers for your help ppl..

The downpipe ball does not separate. You disconnect at the turbocharger.

as in the knuckle wont come apart even when the spring is off?

could be carbon build up? or it might just not be made come apart without destroying it?

you cant get the clamp off?

all you have to do is put your hands down the back of the engine and undo the clamp. should be a couple of 1/2" or 13mm nuts and bolts.

if you think undoing them is hard you should try putting it back together!!!

to re-assemble, hold exhaust with one hand, then hold the clamp with another hand and feed the bolt in with another hand and fit nuts.

so all you need is to grow 1 or 2 more hands and fit them all down the back of the engine!!!

LOL!

when you put it back, slide a trolly jack under the down pipe and jack it up till its a bit lower than the manifold, then with your hand down the back of the endgine lift the down pipe into place then jack the jack with your foot untill it just holds the down pipe in place, then you are free to use 1 hand to hold the clamp in place, 1 to put the bolts in and 1 to do them up*wink*

I always put wooden blocks under the exhaust to hold it in place, this arm growing business takes too long...Lol

Or do as Carl said and weld the nuts onto the clamp :)

I have found that taking the the engine steady off the side gives a little more room to get your hands in and a stubby/cutdown spanner does the job! on the clamp i welded some lengths of threaded bar into the clamp helps and just putting the nuts on makes life easier!
