just been to aldi to pick up some of their digi vernier calipers, i was gonna get a decent set but these were only 7or 8 squids & there are 100mm jobbys, depth gauge, you can swithch between mm & inches, i reckon there ok for the money! come in a nice case too!

I mate of mine said there fairly good but.....they are only accurate if you zero them between measurements!
Open and close them a few times they soon loose there calibration.

Good for the money though, my mate has used one for a digi read out on the cross slide of his lathe, seems to do the job. :)

i bought 2 sets, one set in the storage for a rainy day draw & one set i'll use, i dont use them too often, .5mm of inaccuracy wont bother me much, if its a bearing clearance then i'll do it right!!

these are my upgrade from a whsmith shatterproof ruler i had at school lol *happy*

They are OK, a mate bought me some as a present, get used in the garage plenty, and cheap enough not to worry about them too much, unlike my Mitutoyo gear which is kept clean dry and oiled.

my thoughts on them too tom, i'm not the most careful & dont clean my tools much to be honest, i have for the engine build but the rest of the time they are usually a bit greasy *happy* bad practice i know, i'm nt like bill sollis i his vid i know that, my tools are greasy in the box & greasy out the box, they dont rust & they are lubricated nicley, one of the socket sets we have is 30+ years old! britool it is starting to get a lil slack on the ratchet

I agree with Tom, can't beat Mitutoyo for measuring equipment. Had my vernier & combination set for about 10 years. Cost about £200 back then. Think basic vernier is about £40 nowadays.

Would of thought they would still be good for .05mm.

Tbh anything thats needs a measurement less than that I'd use a mic.

For accuracy goes out the window till you go down to .1mm. After that the micrometer prevails!!!!!

At our machine shop here i did some simple back to back testing on a crank I measured for wear and ovality. Got exactly the same answer with a micrometer and the expensive digi vernier everytime....

Still use the micrometer for safety though...
