Adelaide Australia.

People use them here in Aus in all sorts of motors, N/A, turbo, whatever. I've never tried them though.

I bought a set (73mm) from Minisport Australia (through this site, he advertises in the "for Sale" section).

Also the larger ones without slots...

I will be using with turbo (but my project is taking far too long) but I haven't yet decided how much I dare machine out of their current dish, they only have 7.6cc as standard.
They need enlarging slightly otherwise I'll have to take enourmous amounts out of the head.
They look thick enough in the crown to have a fair amount machined out but the underside is a bit of a strange profile.
I also got them at a VERY good price - UK customs managed to ignore them and they came through with no extra UK duty/VAT (sometimes you get lucky!).

I guess the only way to tell is to cross section one and see how thick the crown is! *oh well*

At £30 odd a piston not as bad as cutting an Omega piston up! *laughing*

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

surely someone on here has access to an x-ray machine???

Maybe wolfie could keep one in his pocket? He seems to be the most unluckiest, then he could just flop it out on his next visit to hospital

I've gone for the cheaper option..... I've depth gauged it from top and bottom and mapped the thickness.

Borrowing SirYun's photo, the areas it will go thin if I machine the profile I want is here.

They are 6.5mm to start in the centre, I don't want to go below 5mm in the centre, but with a shallow "U" profile (to get the maximum volume with 5mm in the middle) I'll be down to 3mm in those two very localised areas.

So I'm still undecided.

Rod.

Any opinions? hastings rings look like great quality from there website....but are really cheap. Im just doing a stock rebuild. (Car will be running ST autocross)

I had some cheap NPR rings that came with some other parts I bought....just for fun i tried to install them on a pistons and the 2nd ring snapped right in half. Glad they are not going in the motor.

For a D16A6
