Found a really easy way to block up the little poppet valve on the plenum chamber.

1) Take off the inlet pipe
2) remove valve and spring unit
3) Maskingtape over the hole
4) fill the recess (hole) from the rear with JB Weld using a tooth pick or similar
5) allow to set
6) remove tape.

Voila.... one plugged hole!

Woo hoo!

Ive tried pushing it through with my finger and it wont budge, plus there shouldnt really be that much vacuum on the plenum should there?

it wont blow out as the JB is larger than the hole.

it's usually easier to replace the butterfly for one without the poppet valve

jim i think your thinking of the popet valve on teh butterfly as opposed to the over boost valve on the plenum (as being discussed)

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

also there is the heat expansion and contraction. just hope it doesnt go through into the engine!

for the price of a new butterfly i wouldnt risk filling it! that could easily go through the engine as im not too sure how it could hold in the brass.

Ive blocked the one on the plenum, and will be running a forge dump valve inline with the intercooler pipes, and my mbc will be set to 7psi

I use an ultrasonic bath on a regular basis, it works like nothing else esp. on carbs and dizzies, these kind of complicated things will look brand new, wait and see iain's pics. just do not put fingers in the bath whilst its working. It will take all chalk of your bones.
it will take the chrome from your spanners.

I blocked up the hole like said on here with the nut, bolt, washers.
I got a longer bolt, so if the nut desided to come off, then the nut wont make it's way into the enigine :) is there anywhere else that i should block up.
or is that job done ? thanks alot..

I chucked the inlet pipe away and made my own without a valve in it. The inlet pointed in the right direction for an intercooler AND had a take-off for a dump valve.

Mine is totally different to this. The Valve portion of the inlet to the plenum has been cut off, and a piece of sheet metal has been bolted back into the space left.

I'll post some pics if anyone wants to try it. It's never failed.

In the garage......again!!

sorry to drag out an old post but i did the search and this came up.Whats the consequencies of not blocking this valve off?, reason i ask is i seem to be getting loads of air going into the engine at idle, can this be a fault with the poppet?, also, when its been run then restarted, i see a lot of whispy smoke emerge from around the plenumn, i hasten to add there are no leaks from any gaskets.
