for the clubman i would always go with the metro radiator. fits perfect, the metro pipes fit (after you cut the metal one down a bit) and it will never over heat. it also keeps the distributor dry when it rains.

side mounted rad will be a problem in high temperatures. side mounted can and does work but you will need an electric fan on the inner wing and the couling between the radiator and the wing, also a super cool 2 core radiator or a 4 core rad. even with this heat can still be a problem in solid traffic.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

if its that hot remove the stat and fit a restrictor ring available from minispares in place

as well as the above excellent advice

the metro rad installation will require slight modifications to the front panel. the alterations are so simple my mother could do them

what about a 2 core side mount and a extra rad like a heater matrix by the front grille?

than the engine will have less ventilation josh. i was planing to do the metro rad in front and an electric fan instead of the side mounted rad and switch it on when stuck in trafic or on a super hot day! or its just a waste of time/money?

carnt see how you would get less ventilation as a heater matrix from a mini (if you use one) is about the same size as a 10row oil cooler.

there would be more space up front with a oil cooler and a heater matrix than a metro rad i would of thought.

if its a clubman, go for the metro rad. that was the best modification i ever did to mine. temperature was always stable and it never ever got over 3/4 on the gauge, even after sitting in traffic after the London to Brighton run in 35ish deg C temps and 1 or 2 hours.

easy way is to fit bonnet pins at the front and remove the standard catch. then cut the vertical suport out of the front panel and trim the panel behind the lower mounting points of the grill. drill 2 small holes in the slam panel and push the rad up through the holes. fit the standard metro fan but off centre to miss the distributor and use the standard fan switch fitted in the radiator to control the fan.

after this mod the only over heating will be the driver and passengers!!

A requirement for more cooling is met by 1) Greater capacity - eg a second, or auxillary rad; 2) More radiator surface area; or 3) More flow.

Flow is rarely the main problem, but increasing significantly using extra pumps can be of benefit.

If I was in Malta - I'd go for at least a larger front-mounted rad as the first step.

Advice above is good :)

cheers guys! Turbo shed it would be a problem for me to make pins in the bonet and remove the catch as i rarely put my clubby in the garage... and i will probably finish with half the engine stolen! or i think once i saw like bonet pins but lock them selve with a key... anyone knows what im talking about and got any idea from where to buy? with most bonnet pins you can remove the pin and fit a padlock when in a bad area.
