Would someone be able to measure the OD of the boss on a crank pulley (type used for MJ) for me please.

And have a look to see if it is slightly tapered?

Cheers
Matt

Cheers Steve, but that sounds like the OD of the whole pulley.

Ive just re-read my post, it wasn't that clear. lol

The measurement I need is for the boss (with the keyway in). As the crank is 25.4mm I guess the OD should be around 40- 45mm or there abouts? *wink*

There is actually a lip (increased diameter) on A+ pulleys onto which that strange pressed steel disc was located before riveted into place.
I'd use the diameter of that, not the seal surface itself for locating the disc onto.

I've just checked my drawing for my timing discs - I made the hole 44.45 / 44.55. This was a good snug fit onto the diameter i recall.

This is the actual type of pulley im using, but that other picture was a really good angle for showing the measurement I require. *wink*

Im in the process of machining a timing belt pulley and there is a slight overlap of the timing pulley and damper pulley. So im going to machine a small recess in the timing pulley so the damper pulley fits into its original location...If that all makes sense? lol

Im guessing it is ok to remove the inner metal flange if needed as that could end up overlapping the line of the belt?

Cheers for the info Dave, look like I wasn't too far off with my guesstimate!

Just got back in from the garage, measured 2 pulleys I have. One earlier and one later, both had an OD of 1&9/16" or 1.563" or 39.67mm
All done with vernier (that's why there is a slight discrepancy)
I think the 1 & 9/16" is the accurate one.
Regards
Dave
