As you know I have been having some problems with smoking on idle ..
and have loads of useful comments ...

Have a scenario

Assuming breathers are blocked ; and RockerCap blocked

Would the crank case pressure be able to force its way up through the rings and out the exhaust

or is a seal somewhere likely to give up ?

I dont think this applies to my problem but I was just wondering where it would vent ?

where do you think the crank case pressure comes from?
It is just that small amount of blow/leakby you get through the rings/gaps.
It will leave via the easiest route - driveshaft seals, clutch main oil seal, inside primary gear, timing cover, etc...

So do you rekon then, by correcting the problem with breathers

no permenent damage will be done ? i mean the driveshaft seals, clutch main oil seal, inside primary gear, timing cover seals will be ok ?

easy test is to take the rocker cover cap off. If it still smokes it's the rings or turbo.
Noisy (!) test is to take the turbo off and see what is coming out of the head ports!!!

will do the test 2nite ....
I sit here at work worrying about things and cant do nowt !

My smoke at idle problem is driving me mad ..

got another theory .... apart from beathers

ValveStem Seals have been mention on my other post; that kinda makes sense as well; oil getting through under atmospheric pressure , but when under load ( boost ) it cant ?

GOD how I love to ramble !

i had a similar prob and changed the head and that fixed it id tried new stem seals that dint help i fink the guides were worn or summit. after youve checked your breathers etc id try either taking off your turbo or try a different head.

theres are many things that can cause it to smoke the easiest way to sort it is to elelimate them one by one.
if your lucky it might be the first thing you find *smiley*

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.
