I've got all the parts for the supercharged engine im building for a friend. Crank, block and head are on the way and should be back soonish so my attention has turned to the drive system for the charger.

I have been trying to work out how to drive the charger and this is where my dilema comes in as i have no experiance of charger drive systems.

I need to drive the charger at a ratio of around 1:1 to the crank, but im concerned that the pulley size supplied with he charge (straight off a bmw mini) will be too small to use at either end? The pulley size is around 2.5-3".

So my question is, do you think that the pulley is going to be large enough for this use?

I've done a quick search which has come up with a few suppliers of pulleys, but does anyone know of any uk bassed places?

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

What kind of pulley is it you need (e.g. belt profile etc)?

There are plenty on the UK. I used one called HPC Gears, found them really easy to use, and they can make one-offs.

www.hpcgears.com

If you search on google try typing "gear" into the search as well as pulley as it brings up alot more companies. *wink*

One thought I had when thinking about this was that, if you use a 36 tooth drive pulley on the engine, you could remove a small piece of one tooth to give just what you need for Megjolt. (assuming you use a steel pulley)

Are you sure you need a 1:1 ratio?

without knowing what youre intending to with it i'd guess you'd be looking at around a 1.5:1 ratio. (1293 10 psi boost ect)

heres a useful calculator i found a while back...

Mine's fitted with 8M timing gear, belts avaliable from powerscoots, its an omega optibelt and comes in a loads of different lengths.
The existing pulley has been removed and a flat site cut onto the charger shaft to take a key'd pulley. This can be done in one operation if your carefull.

Time for some post excavation....

Has anybody used either

www.hpcgears.com

or

http://www.sdp-si.com/eStore/CoverPg/Pulle...CFQILPwodjj1UnQ

for a custom made pulley? The one on my SC12 looks a little bit out of line, so I thought it might be better to get a new one made over here than try and import one from aus, NZ or the USA.

Does anybody know of anywhere else that does custom pulleys or even anybody on here who can make things?

202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will
