Well ive been reunited with the lathe again...and was then physically removed from the lathe before I got carried away. *hehe!*

After a dissapointing RR day due to a slipping clutch, im junking the pre-verto setup and jumping on the band wagon to try a Robert special verto setup.
I would go for a double grey with paddle plate, but I do far to many miles to warrant a heavy clutch and worn thrusts and money is tight! lol

nice,

youve taken a bit more material off than me.

somthing worth mentioning, the 190mm rally plate is cheaper than the 180mm one.

I did spot that, I think im going to go for the 190mm, every little helps! *happy*

I managed to knock 4lbs off it, im hoping to get another 1lb off the centre section aswell.

I think Robert is making some more of these, once it is tried and tested on a RR. *wink*

Haha! I was wringing the neck of my car and you were still doing similar times with only 6 PSi boost and a plenum that just wouldn't stay where it should!

yeah .... on foot! *wink*

clutch wize , i think running a 104 terminal at avon with a verto clutch and 750kg vehicle weight sort of proved the concept ,its down to tailoring the clutch to the car usage now ,and with the choice of plates and springs theres a lot of options .
this new plate im investigating looks good ,a higher friction co eff than the available plates ,with a longer life ,and will allow a softer pressure so the pedal is comfy too .:)

Its finished...well apart from balancing..

I went for 2 turbo spring plates, 190mm clutch plate, and 4 drives straps on each location. Lol that should do it!! I ended up making some 0.5mm collars to go round the bolts to keep the spring plates central. I also made up ome new rivets to keep the assembly as standard as possible. All seems really solid, just hope it works! *oh well*

Hi Matty, do you maybe have a picture of your engine with all part bolted on outside the mini engine bay?

I like to see a better picture of the turbo part etc.. and how it looks all together.

cheers

Yeah they are vacuum/boost signal hoses for the ECU, fuel pressure regulator, boost gauge etc..

I found it was the best solution to get consistant readings for them all.

Now the engine is done, clutch is done, this winter will be the gearbox build.

I spent a good few hours mulling it over today (read as staring at an empty case and some gears), and there is a substantial amount of chopping around to do on various webs in the box and some 'interesting' splines to machine here and there.

Im hoping to change the gears using electronics, and at the same time actuate the clutch.

Ive been doing alot of reading on stepper motors, but after some trials with a DC worm drive motor today, it looks doable using that and limit switches instead, which is a relief!

I'll get some pics up when ive built the courage up to make my first cut on the box. lol

Have you seen this site:
http://www.geartronics.co.uk/

They use pneumatics.. (not the cheapest of kits though):
http://www.geartronics.co.uk/paddleshift.htm

But thought it might be interesting to see how they do it..
Apparently they did something for Z-cars aswell.

Dazed and Confused....
