this coolant additive that lowers the surface tension of the water thus lowering engine running temps. is it any good or is it a waste of time?

Its Great! It really works, it dropped my average running temp to well below half on the standard dial,

+ My dad uses it in his MGB v8 conversion still running a standard MGB rad - no fancy v8 rads here, just plenty of water wetter

I asked the guy in the local motorworld for some, "Water wetter, what's that ?" he said, with a smile on his face. It took me a while to convince him i wasn't winding him up. He'd never heard of it.

I don't think i need any in my engine at the moment, i can't get it to run hot enough. Going to have to try a hotter thermostat today. It's running really cool since i did the cooling mods to the block/head.

Am i glad to hear all these comments on the water wetter *happy*

Any one know any prices for it cos it seems a very easy and cheap way of upgrading the cooling system for those that do have problems with keeping temps down.

halfords sell it too, its at least 15 quid i think, i used about a half a bottle when i did my old 5 turbo, good stuff but gets pricey if your draining coolant a fair bit for engine removal etc

Hi sorry to drag up an old thread but wondering if this is still a good option in the aid of cooling thinking about getting some. Is there any ratios for best results, pros and cons ect of the product thanks Scott

first ensure you are not solving symptoms and hide problems. Generally good flow, timing and mixture will keep temps already ok
