My First Trackday (Brands, aug 13th) + Britcar

Hello all,

Nicky bought me a novice trackday for my birthday, and a kind bloke on Pistonheads gave me his spare Britcar tickets too - so we went down to kent to make a weekend of it.

Awesome.

I am actually really impressed with how my car did on track. I thought I'd be getting passed loads by the more serious metal, especially as I only have the weenie 118bhp engine. In reality though, only about 5 of the 32 cars passed me, these were a mad Skyline GTR, a AMG of some sort which sounded like a plane, a caterham, and I cant remember anything else, although I'm sure there was a couple of others.
I managed to keep up, and take loads of cars that I thought I'd have no chance against, Imprezas, Porsche 911's, BMW M3's, etc. Only downside to my car was the lack of poke on the straights, the corners were where i was making all my speed up, not having to break going into Surtees, and being able to get back on the power really early in just about every corner.
Only small bit of worry I had was taking Paddock Hill Bend a bit hot, and having a bit of a sideways moment, but the Elise is so easy to drive it was corrected without any real issue.

Also very impressed with how well Nicky coped as a passenger. Excellent job at looking in the mirrors and seemed to be enjoying it too!

Excellent fun, can't wait for the next one!

I found it particually easy to spin my brotheres Elise around, thus I conclude you were braking too early (or was it me too late?).

Looks like fun anyway.

Perhaps he had shit tyres. I found I could get the power on half way round druids, and it would start twitching and squealing, but not actually spin.
