hi all

i'm just thinking out loud here, did a quick search but i can't find anything. can you actually adjust the boost but screwing the rod on the actuator, in or out depending on what you want? i.e in for more boost out for less, also has anyone actually tried this?

i know i could fit a bleed valve, but i was thinking it might be easier without it.

Yes you will be able to adjust the boost a certain amount by altering the preload on the actuator (altering length of rod)

screwing the rod onto the actuator rod so you have to pull it (pre load) on the wastegate will increase boost to some extent. fitting an actuator with a tougher spring in side does the same but better, and fittng a bleed valve increses boost but also creates a boost leak wich is not the best idea

the boost leak can be controlled by a flow reg

Rather than using a bleed valve which creates the boost leak already mentioned it's best to use a spring loaded pop off valve in the line, that way there is no boost leak until you reach the boost limit your after then the valve opens. The best idea with this sort of valve is to put an orifice in the outlet so that there is still some restriction (size orifice to give you the peak boost your after) which will help prevent the valve chattering with the initial pressure drop on opening.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...
