Live in birmingham and work sheffield

does sound like either starter or earth problem.
have you got the earth lead on from the head to the bulkhead?

Change the starter for a known good one before you go any further.

I had a similar problem with a "brand new" minispares starter.

as because im on my own i ncant realy do the spark plug on the head thing.
or is there a way of doing it ?

Open the drivers side window so that you can turn the key whilst your head's still under the bonnet?

I would say you need to check power to the coil. This could be done by checking with a bulb wired across the '-' and '+' of the coil. Turn over the engine it should flash on and off. If not check the bulb lights when one side of the bulb is earthed and the other is on the '+' of the coil. This need to be checked with ingnition on

unplug the centre lead to the dizzy cap and stick a plug on the end of the lead and rest it on the top of the engine where it can be seen easy.

right i have put a volmeter between the + on the coil and an earth and it reads 10.
i put the setting on 900 im not sure if thats the right setting ?

one thing i have thought of though is when i fitted the engine the plug on the ignition module was different to that onmy wiring so i removed my old ignition module and replaced it with that would that be ok or does it have to be a specific one for it ?

I
think the module/plug is the problem. The are 2 types, one is 3 wire, the other type is a 2 wire type.

I would say that is the problem. It sounds like you are getting power to the coil but I may be that you need 12v there and not just 10v.

I sure someone will put me right!!

ok i tried changing the module from the 3 pin to the 2 pin and put spade connectors on instead of the plug.

still no spark. ?

i have changed the coil and put a plug lead from the centre to the head and again no spark. ??
