Just putting new shoes on the back and when the drum is free , and you spin it. It goes tight then slack then tight again why is this, and its worse on one side than the other? Cheers

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

adjust the shoes fully up tight then get a hammer and bash the drum to centralise the shoes adjust till the catching just goes after 50 mile re adjust

You can also centralise the shoes by pressing the brake pedal a few times.

try putting 2 wheel nuts on diagonally with some form of spacers to pull the drum tight against the hub.

Also check theres not any crap on the drum to hum matting flanges.

Mine does the same but I think I have a few high spots on inside of the drum. I have to run the adjusters backed off to clear the high spots so I have no handbrake and a long pedal. New drums on order!

Isle of Man

are they adjusted correctly?

try slackening them off with the adjuster on the back

if in the past someone has left the car parked up for a prolonged period of time with the handbrake hard on, it can sometimes press the drums oval, but i doubt this is whats happening here
