bloody exhaust clamp!

me again! gonna put the exhaust clamp on tomorow i have the 2" full maniflow turbo system from avonbar and their clamp, anyone know why the clamp is wider at the top/ bottom (depending on which way you look at it) does it fit over the curved part of the exhaust downpipe at the top or sit just under the ridge cos in the haynes manual its does but it doesnt fit straight if you put it under the ridge! if that makes sense!

large hole to the top.
use trolley jack to hold exhaust up against , turbo outlet and put clamp over both parts , before you put clamp on weld up the bolts to one part of the clamp , makes life must easier.

Welding the bolts is vital!!

I cant get mine off now, stupid or what!

Still it was only a metro down pipe so I just cut through that

when you put a 2" down pipe on a good clamp to get is one for a citroen from kwik fit but its a good thing if you weld the bolts to one side as it helps when you put it on

also relieve the bottom hole, the clamp was only made for the metro system and the maniflow downpipe is bigger so the holes not the right size!

i think the 'clamp' you buy from Avonbar currently 'IS' designed for the maniflow system - ie 2"?

i had a feeling it wasnt, not sure though but i know when Keith sent a new clamp for me to use when i fitted his engine i had to take a fair amount of material out of that to get it to fit. Im assuming he got it from a turbo mini specialist although im not sure which one.

if it helps anyone i have hust used a clamp and maniflow downpipefrom avonbar and it was fine, but i did order them at the same time so maybe i was sent the matching parts
