capscrews do look more pretty than head studs, but you'd have to re-consider the torque tightening values as a minimum

plus you lose the benefit of the excellent UNF thread to clamp the head

re-tapping the block could be an option, but negates the cost saving of the capscrews

Are the ARP's expensive in the first place ?

I think its a 7. Its only using one barrel of the carb, they are allowed to do that.

I think it's a maniflow item, basically it's a tubular horse shoe shape which only uses half the carb.

Yes, its a seven, you can tell by the tyres through the wheel arch on the opposite side of the pic.

That Engine above is in James Coulson's mini7, engine is built by Dave Wells from SH engineering. Dave also used these bolts on the Miglia engines, he told me he has never had a single head gasket failure. Having said that, are ARP head studs needed?? I've never needed them, and I've not had head gasket problems for years.

Im not using them, and had no head gasket problems running 16-18 lbs of boost!

What are the advantages of them?

I used BK450 and ARP studs....I blew between cyls 2-3 on a regular basis ( say every 5-6000 miles )

One ARP even sheared off once when torquing. Luckily 11 were supplied, but I was only using 9, so had a spare.
