Hi all,i`m looking for a Metro Turbo engine,what sort of price should i pay?
And wheres the best place to buy?

How longs a piece of string?

Prices on std ones from donor cars have gone ridiculous. However if you need 1, you gotta pay it. Or barter with him and say £20 and a gobstopper!

tbh, you'll end up rebuilding the thing anyway, so may as well go for a standard 1275 block and take it from there.

I'll be selling mine soon, have no idea what its worth though!! lol

engine here for sale turbo new rings, shells, avonbar cam, oil pump all new, kent vernier used 11 stud block taped oil galeries, new core plugs, £300 never been started

Will be selling in a few months, if all goes well on the new build...so probably looking early next year!

Unless your planning on running the bottom end at standard bore and with the standard pistons I'd not bother looking for a turbo lump.

Standard A+ 1275 will do the job if your going for a rebuild (which most will need by now).

The best option, by far IMHO, is to buy a running engine or fresh bottom end from somebody you can trust (like the two already mentioned here).

I'd not buy an engine off Ebay or similar without seeing it head and box off first, so many "low milage" / "massive power" motors on there are only fit for rebuild at best!


To answer your question the last couple I bought cost £100, £50 and £75 respectively .... the first two where running engines I removed from cars myself (to make sure I got everything) and the last was a bare short motor and seen head / box off.

I guess I'm saying buyer beware!

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

I`ve seen 3 on ebay,all starting price really low.First one went for £365,second went for £205 and the third went for £367.
1st was stripped in bits,
2nd looked like it had been sat outside since year dot with no gearbox,
3rd was complete in a buggy running claiming a reliable 100bhp!
