I Think ive got a leaded head still on my mini is it OK to run this on 97/98 octane unleaded or will a substitute need adding??

I Know the higher octane will help keep detonation down but are there other implications of using unleaded in a leaded head.

if an additive is needed what does anyone recommend?

Make sure that you keep enough valve clearance, I suffered a similar thing before I rebuilt the head.
It seems that the valves knock there way in to the valve seat until the celearanc eis away and than they burn.
You better use suitable valve seat when you take the head for a rebuilt, in the mean time keep on adjusting the play.
