right then i have car craft mig 180 it has a euro torch system, this is were the welding lead can unscrew from the mig plant, i have been told and been offered a euro torch with teflon lining for alloy welding, i no the gas is different for alloy and stainless steel, olso i thought that alloy plant was ac,dc. olso can you use my mig for stainless by just changing wire and gas,,,,,,,,,been use a mig for 20 years now but never tried stainles steel or alloy,so can you help please

apparently you can stuff ally wire in with a teflon liner and some argon and mig ally,

never tryed it personaly but seen the results and they can be pretty good.

Just wire & gas change for stainless. For odd jobs I wouldn't bother changing gas. For tig, remember to change tungsten, white tip for ally & red tip for stainless.

ok i understand milamber, but if you dont change gas how tidy is the weld on stainless

its not as critical with stainless. You can weld it with normal wire if you don't mind rusty welds!
Rough guide, Carbon Dioxide/ Argon for mildsteel, Argon for stainless & helium/argon for aluminium

Actually I find TIG easier than gas as it is easier to control the localised heat.

I love my TIG set, the best tool I ever bought.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

It gets better! do a fair bit of work with oxy acet' so now a little less worried about pigeon poo welds, lol

As steve says...ally is a different ball game. Tig ally is not my best.

i have the gas and wire to weld ally in my mig but only use it for bodging up old landrovers! its not the best way to go about it....
