I know I sound a bit like a stuck record but I would suggest that you try and have a ride in a Mini, driving across all the normal sort of driving types you do, before yo make your mind up. That is the only real way that your going to know if YOU can live with it before you spend the money.

thats good to hear hogster, my SC box has been in 2.5 years now without any inspection. It's my daily drive and running around 160 banana's now but its definately coming out over the winter for a refurb to be safe.

i used to use mini as a daily runner, were a nightmare to start with and then a did the same and bought a pair of ear defenders. all was bliss after that. another good thing was my girlfriend refused to drive it because of the noise. |

Anyone running a SC final drive, they are meant to be intolerable on anything more than a hillclimb. Bugger off, I'm getting there. |

One thing I noticed is the clearance of the idler to primary gear is some what on the large side in my opinion. It may be worth looking at doing away with the paper block to box gaskets and just use weldseal, this would close up the clearance and they will run quieter. Obviously a dry build is in order to make sure the clearances are tolerable On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
Is it A-Series only? I think it should be... So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'... On 26th Oct, 2004 Tom Fenton said:

if you use SC gears, drops and CW there will be something in ther order of 0.040 to 0.050 backlash in total.
