Hi lads.
I won this straight cut box of ebay. Item number: 250153086197 just copy and paste the number into ebay search http://www.ebay.co.uk
It says,(Here we have a newly built, straight cut gear box, etc.
So to me that mean's new gears, bearing etc. which he did say when i asked over the phone to make sure.
To me the gears dont look new at all, they have little pitting chips on some of the gears edges :( im well pissed off lol
What should i do ? say etc.. i dare call now coz i not happy.
Have i been miss lead..
Was all happy when it came lol like a little kid with his new toy :)

Can you take some pics of the box (more importantly the damaged gears) you've recieved?

If they build lots of them (it sounds like they do), then they shouldn't have a problem swapping it for another.

The auction suggests the gearset is new, but the wording is such that it is open to interpretation.

If it is a 2nd hand gearset, i would be pissed off....but at the end of the day £260 for a 2nd hand sc rebuilt gearbox is pretty reasonable as long as the gearset isnt fecked...

Give them a call to see where you stand. I think you can get refund via paypal as item is not as described, if all else fails.

Yeah it doesn't actually say new gears just newly rebuilt! If you did ask if they were new over the phone then they should be.

Well i called them up, and they were fine about it. said i was the first person with this problem . he said sorry etc, were build u another one, or have a refund. he said they get the straight cut gearing new, and someone else builds them with new bearing etc. so why has some of the gears got pits on the edges i said? maybe a bad batch he said he then said, 1st gear might be a good 2nd hand gear??
anyway, maybe im being a fussy so and so, and if said some parts were 2nd hand with new bearings, then i would be fine with it. to me, it looks like it has come straight from an engine.
so how do i know there new bearing etc.
just covering me back really... oh yeah, i got a 3.4 crown wheel and diff for free :) im so ungrateful
So im gonna send it back. and there gonna build me a new one, with out it being srayed black, with after spray all over the gears... lol

Update.
I call the guy who own's the company today to sort out my box. as im sending my case to him to build the gears in. anyway, i asked him about new bearings. he said there all old bearings which are better then the new ones?? so i told him that the other guy said there all new bearings, but he said he shouldn't of told u this.. so what now ? cant trust no f*ucker. so do i just buy me own bearing for the straight cut box, and send them to them, or what ?
If so, Could someone so kindly send me the links with the right bearings i need please.
I have new bulkrings, new gaskets and seals ill be sending. hmmm but how would i know if his gonna put the new ones all in.
Cant trust some ppl now adays.

i personally wouldnt send any of my bits over to this company, god knows if they would make it into another box

id just get money back and try someone else that you can trust, such as some of the guys on here

I would get them to rebuild it, just so you get the new undamaged gears then get someone to check it over and fit anything that hasn't been replaced that should of been e.g bearings.

That way you get your box and know its ok and for less than you'd pay anywhere else.

look at the the colour of the box its self! when I rebuild boxes i allways dip the boxes in acid to remove the horrible black gunge.
looks like they are using the Clubman gear set too with the original 1st and reverse.

old bearings are better than new ones hhhhmmmm

the only thing i use old is genuine layshafts as the do sem to last one hell of alot longer than these so called quality high grade items.

god knows what the laygear endfloat must be like they were proberly old shims two.

but as dave said still abargain just for the gears at least you saved £100 quid there

Just found out that An old friend of a friend does mini's for a living. and he said he would build the box up for me. so what i was going to do, is tell the guy to send me the gears, as well as the diff and free crownwheel & pinion it comes with (which i will sell) and get my mates mate to build it up in my casing. he said to give him a drink.
So im gonna buy new bearing for peace of mind.

So how many bearing do i need.. is it 8 all in all.... i have all the gasket's and seals, so dont need them..
could someone tell us what ones i need for the straight cut A+Box pretty please.
