Carbon Fibre Panels - Opinions Of Supplier

It has come to the time where i need some carbon panels (bonnet and boot)

i have 2 choices (i think anyway :S) Smudger sp? or Curley.

has anyone got any information on either of these guys? i did a search and found a few people have dealt with Curley. I'm aware fitting is not all that great, unsure of quality / customer service

From stories I have heard I wouldn't touch "smudger", ask Wil_H.

You are aware that the so-called "carbon" panels are just the same as the GRP ones except the top layer is a weave material to give the effect?

I've used Curley stuff in the past and to be fair the fit was ok, about the same as the GRP equivelents from ABS.

I am intending to use them for my roof and other panels when I finally do my car (why do I keep taking on other projects???). I found them ok to deal with but it's one of those companies that you need to leave a message and wait for an answer ... guessing they are all busy and check the phone when they can!

I have heard some things about Smudger that have put me off. Please note though that I have never dealt with him direct and am basing this statement entirely on secondhand information .... my friends might just have been unlucky.

Wouldn't even attempt to get stuff off smudger.

Even if you do get hold anything off him, i've heard bad things about the quality.

I've heard good things about TDK racing stuff recently and i've heard good things about abs motorsport in the past too.

dave kimerbly i think is supposed to be very good.

smudger i havent heard about for a while and the only things i heard were poor delivery/small claims court etc.

curley are ok, if you can get anything out of them.

I wanted a 2 piece front in a bit of a hurry, everyone was slow but eventually tracked one down to Peter Vicker, i'm sure the name is familiar to many of the members.
He apparently made many of the mini molds used by curley. Very helpful he's a dealer for curley products and very reasonable.
The fit and finish was very good and before spraying just needed to be flatted off.
If you get a chance to collect you'll see some of the miglia racers there that he maintains for a few people.

Vote for Dave Kimberly here, he supplied the fibreglass for The DON, Carl and I went down to get it all, friendly bloke, good to deal with and good prices, say no more.

That Smudger guy's a total waste of time. I found Curley to be OK.

Smudger is in our mini meet at the pub and to be fair ive heard rumors bout him. However i just think he is a total tsspot.

Yes dave kimberly ive delt with him. extreamy healpfull bloke.
(taken a new company for it aswell now i think)
had a bit of a do with curly waited 7 months for bits (Wot a joke)
but kept getting promised it wen i phoned up.
