there are some differences as the alternator fixes to the head on the mpi, and i "think" the temp sensor is different too.

The water temp sender hole and the water heater take off are not drilled, extra fixing holes for the alternator mount, no water by pass, and manifold locating lugs on the inlet ports., that just about covers it.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I like nice quiet girly Minis

As sprocket said.

Easy enough to fit MPi head to older engine but a bit more effort to fit older head to MPi (alternator mount fabrication being the worst bit)

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Thats a good point Roger,

For the life of me I can't work out why minisport when the were pissing around with the 7 port casting never added the mpi alternator mount....

it would have opened up a much bigger market....

ie slap it on an mpi with a couple of webber throttle bodies and an emerald box....

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

I thought I heard some where that the water ways were ment to be superior, I pretty sure that Nigel Brown is running one on his car for this reason.

Roger, can you have a look and confirm?

As an aside has anyone seen or spoken to Nigel? as it's been years since his last post.

Not actualy having an MPi head to look at i cannot comment on that, however, the water jacket of the MPi block is of a smoother and overall better finish than any of the other blocks i have seen, possibly better casting methods used with a re designed core for the redesigned block?

I'll have a look and report back, I've got several MPi and turbo heads I can compare.
