found out where my boost went , well it didnt get there in the first place.

after a lot of twatting about, found my super head and a bit of debris jammed between the inlet valve and seat aso it has marged the valve and the seat, about the size of a piece of hard small dia wire, so the head will either have to have a bigger inlet valve in or have some inlet seats fitted.

any way after putting my old head back noticed that my bottom hose was split were it goes onto the water pump so a few choice words were said, but then a ray of light shone over ones engine and there layed the boost problem right in front of ones eyes.

i though there seems to be to much clearance between the bottom hose and the turbo inlet hose, and yes the inlet hose was laying at a 45 deg angle rather than straight at the inlet.

as the wire reinforcinghad worn a bit which allowed this to happen.

so there you have it when comming on boost the inlet hose was collapsing starving the blower of air thus boost was dropping of.

quick cut down of the slack bit and replace, fitted head she went realy well to tescoes at ipswich then wondered why the engine was a tad hot then relised one had forgotton to do up the thermo hose and lost a bout 1.5 ltrs of water.

on way back i think the head gasket went as steam was coming out of the breathers, so head of but couldnt find anything amiss so just hopeing that it was the gasket as number 2 was down to 80 psi instaed of 140. either that we have got some serious problems.

Were you using that flexible ducting stuff?

I don't like it for that very reason... I always use silicon hose.

yes nice one mate, at last you might be getting there. Dave he is using flexible pipe but it was the reinforced type.

cheers boys, i will fit new gasket tomoz but still not 100% happy until i know she is running fine.

still smokes on lift off but i can live with that.

yes mat it is wire reinforrced but silicon may be a option along with some proper bent pipe. because that reinforced stuff doesnt last long for the price as its about £30 a meter and i have a big run of the stuff as i dont have room under the actual bonet to fit a decent sized filter.

the only othe option would be to fit the smaller filter some were. best i talk to DR WHO i think.

oh that bloody expensive intercooler works a bloody treat.

given it plenty of been on 14 psi and i didnt seem temps above 40 deg

hi jimster yes went for a pace cooler made to measure jobby with 50 mm cores.

but doesnt matter now as the hog is dead.

number 2 cylinder rings have shot i think as she is low on that cylinder , i changed the gasket but she still runs on 3 with plenty of exhaust smoke coming from breathers so thats it for the year and thank f'ck for that.

now i can rip her heart out and shove it in the bin and start again for next year.

plus i will be putting the clubby back on the road this year hopefully.

there was a pic put on here a whilst again about 2 weeks i think so have a look mate.

i recon, i had trouble with nu7mber 2 to get in as the ring compressor wasnt done up enouth so my guess that the rings have cracked or chipped.
