Ah, I'm just a bit touchy about it lately :(

At the risk of sounding like an ignorant retard, what is a snail?

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

i meant the compressor snail (i.e. the silver curly bit

Ive acquires an old GT1544 with a 4 bolt T2 manifold, I think its off some old fiat diesel of some sort?

I think id prefer to go with a GT1548 though, as it seems its slight more efiicient once you pump out over 100 nanas (which is what im aiming for on the 998 motor)

Check out the comp map on the garret website http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...44_454083_2.htm

120bhp at 7000rpm and 12psi is slap bang in the middle of the maximium efficiency zone.

There are two 1544s though, and the smaller one is not so good for what you want. The 48 would be good if you wanted say 150bhp

ill def be aiming for the higher of the 2 figures wil, so will keep my eye out for a 1548

to be fair though, now Ive found a 44 with T2 flange, theres nothing to stop me going ahead with this turbo, and just swapping to a 48 at a later date if/when one turns up

Joe, what are the trim and A/R figures for the 1544 you have? I've never seen a 4 bolt one

EDIT: Brain and hands not working together after going on the piss last night

Well having looked at my 15 I'm not so sure I know what it is. The Garrett website doesn't help either as both 44s seem to have exactly the same specification.
