Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

For sale after Castle Combe action day (29th September) – In fact it could quite easily be removed at CC after having had it round the track, probably about an hours work and a couple of people lifting!!

Price first, its got lost in it all: £2500 for whats listed below. Not splitting at this point in time, the prices are to give an idea of second hand prices so you can see what you are getting. Probably a fair few bits I’ve missed but this will do for now.

I’m selling the current engine in my car (even though I’ve only just finished it! Fun is in the building!) due to building a K headed engine for hillclimbing next year. I would love to be able to afford to keep both engines but I cant and to be competitive a NA engine is on the cards for the minute.

This was put on Mike Barratts rolling road and achieved 180bhp at the flywheel on 14psi of boost which was more than he’d ever seen on such a low boost pressure. His RR is always there abouts in terms power levels but they all vary. The engine was built with 20psi + in mind so I can see over 200bhp being well within reach. Take it to certain RR’s and I’m sure its already there!

1293 - 15cc forged omegas with block £400
lightened crank, flywheel, grey with paddle plate. £200
challenge spec head £500
mirage manifolds and rover 200 turbo with new core and braided oil/water hoses plus turbo oil filter £400
forge billet actuator and DV , 2 bleed valves and piping £100
nics plenum with air temp sensor £75
4x4 cossie intercooler and silicon hoses £75
S/C drops and JKD dog box - S/C (or poss semi s/c) 3.9 crown wheel £600
toothed belt drive kit £75
modded SU with throttle pot fitted and inlet manifold £100
Swiftune cranksensor setup and toothed pulley £100
Fuel pressure regulator £25
Fuel pump by negotiation, it was Jimsters that he lent to me

I think those are fair prices for all the parts, the turbo cost me £250, and the manifolds are £350 new. The downpipe has got a leak as its been cut and shut a bit to fit past my hardy spicers so will need a bit of attention but not much.

I want to sell as a whole for £2500, just add up what this engine would cost in new, I’d estimate £4000+ in parts and machining. This engine really hasn’t done a lot of miles and starts and runs a treat.

If it was me and I wasn’t using the engine till next year I would recommend a set of thrusts as it is running a grey diaphragm. Its easy and cheap to do and means its out the way with now.

The gearbox was rebuilt 2 races before I got it (miglias) and has done minimal since I’ve had it so should be fine to continue using. Again, if you weren’t using the engine till next year then it could be put through a light freshen up although it shows no signs of needing it.

The other thing I’d do is take some bits off and paint it up. Would look spot on after that.

There will be no:

Alternator
Cooling system other than water pump
Starter motor (as it’s a £200+ brise one I can use again)
ECU
MAP sensor
Water temp sensor (as its in the cooling system, not head, currently a mechanical gauge in the head)

Well it's right up my street but I would have no way of picking it up. I wouldn't need the gearbox though. 2500 is reasonable, infact considering people are selling painted up loads of rubbish for 600+ on ebay!

Listening to your car at the pod I was wondering if it had a dog box, there was a fair "clunk" on each change.

thats because you dont need a clutch when your not going across the gate! *happy* you also dont need to lift!

unfortunately i got a shite start the time i tried that so dont know if it made any difference.

In fact i dont know my last time when i raised the limiter a shade as i was hitting the soft cut too early.
