you should just be able to stick a 9pin -9pin cable into either of the sockets next to the 25 way,

I think this is a better way to do it as you normally need drivers for usb-9way cables, and they can be a bit fritzy.

the reason people use the usmb's is becaus modern laptops don't usually have the 9 way anymore.

Cables easily available, look on ebay, serial cable.

NOTE: you do NOT want a NULL-MODEM cable, this looks the same but is wired differently.

yup, you just need a 9 pin female to female cable, as said above a 9 to 9 serial cable as a common as muck and dead cheap. The ebay link above is what you need, although 5 metres is a bit of an overkill, unless you want to run the cable from indoors to the garage!

I know your just using your 9 pin on your PC but if that fails I used this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-to-9-Pin-Serial-...1QQcmdZViewItem

...to go from USB to the MJ unit with no probs what so ever (once I installed the driver that is*blush*).

I think I have solved it, am I right in thinking, that if im sat here with the megajolt only connected to my pc via the serial lead, it wont work, as I need to provide a power supply? If this is the case, please form an ordilly que to hurl insults at me!
Shane.

Yes you need to power it. If I remember a 9 volt battery will power it enough. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Yes I think others have used a 9v, can't coment though as I had it in the mini before I connected to the laptop.
