I have an issue with my diff outputs, I am currently using a tranX LSD and hardy spicer outputs with HS sidecovers. I am going to swap the casing from the remote to a rod change unit and then I need a sidecover that is made for the rod box. I have that already, but the bush inside it is loose (has spun in cover) and its been welded twice as the metal around the bolt holes have split. (may have been threated bad by previous owner) My question is, do you see any troubles with machining the output shafts thinner, so I could make use of some standard rod change pot joint sidecovers with my hardy spicer outputs? I will make generous radii where needed eventually. If I do not make a new circlip groove and a new hardened washer I will loose the stuff that keeps the output in place, but that can also be done by inserting a valve spring in between the driveshaft and hardy spicer joint (to push the joint towards the diff).

you cannot touch the outputs as they are hardened , and even if you could get then centreless ground you may well remove the outer hardened case rendering them week unless you reheattreat them,

Did you buy a new one from Minispares? I thought you had two old ones? On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:
Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem. |
