yes, you read it correctly - up for sale is our transporter trailer. It is a big old heavy twin axle number which was originally used as a plant trailer.
Unfortunately, when we leant it to a friend recently, he managed to hit something on a farm track and ripped one of the indespension units off. Prior to this, the trailer towed very well with no snaking. Tow cars have included Mk2,3 & 4 Golfs without problems.
The load bed is approx 5.5m - I'm not sure about the width but we have had a 3series BMW on it before. It was tight to the side rails but these could be removed and plastic mudguards put on in place of the rotten metal ones at present which would give an extra 100mm.
It was re-wired with new light fittings approx 4 years ago and has been used locally since - I would guess it hasn't done any more than 1000 miles in this time. We also put 4 new tyres on at the same time - one has a slow puncture and another has been ripped in the suspension incident.
I've just been watching some suspension units on e-bay and they sold for £155 for the pair including the brakes, cables etc. Over and above the only thing you would need to get this trailer back on the road would be a new tyre to replace the one damaged when the unit was ripped off.
We've now bought a smaller trailer which just fits a mini and more suited to our needs so have decided not to repair it. It would make a good trailer for someone with a weekends worth of work.
PM me for photos.
