Hi everyone. I figured I would post up a few pics from a recent job I did. My Mini and I were hired as actors in a movie that is currently in production at the Universal Studios Back lot in Hollywood. The movie takes place in the early 70's in London. So they transformed the 'New York Street' section of the studio into London.

This is me wearing the costume so I fit in a bit better...and to hide my bald head which is not period correct I was told. The movie set can be seen in the background.

My buddy Boris and his wagon

Since me and my car were used for action shots, I don't have lots of pics of me...so here are a few of the set where they used my friends Mini.

A few other pics....

I guess this is/was a tv station news van...it was used in the scene I worked in.

when we were done with the shoot, we drove around the lot and took pics in some of the other movie sets.

A Western movie set

This is where they store a bunch of old movie props. In the background you can see an old King Kong prop.

Wave to the tour bus.

This is all that remains of the Back to the Future set...

The movie will be out sometime next year. It's currently titled "Frost/Nixon".

I figured you guys would like a taste of what it's like to be a Mini owner in LA, California. This is what we do to afford parts for our cars.

The money I got for this job will pay for the creation of my turbo manifold as well as the powder coating of my Mamba wheels!

In a couple of the pics, you can see tall poles on tripods. Those things made it rain buckets at the flip of a switch! They also had curtains pulled over the streets to cut out the direct sun while shooting. When they were filming my driving shot, they had a guy with a high powered hose pipe. He kept the streets very wet and looking like the rain just ended. They also had sprayers that shot a fine mist all over the cars to keep them properly moist.

We have a few friends in the film industry that do what is called 'car wrangling'. When a studio has a need for a certain type of car, the wranglers go about finding and hiring those cars. So whenever a Mini is needed, we get phone calls. Pretty much any time you see a classic Mini in an American filmed show, that car is owned by someone in my car club.

If you want to see what I mean, this is one of the companies I work with. http://www.mistervintagemachine.com/home.php

In the scene where I was driving my Mini, they had one block of the street converted for authentic UK style left lane driving. But the blocks surrounding it were still set up in US right lane style. It was quite confusing for the cars that were passing through between shots!

They were trying very hard to simulate a bustling and busy street. So they had a camera set up in an old school london black cab. They had it driving down the street set. Then they told me to pass the cab utilizing the very edge of the one lane road. At the same time I was to crowd a Vespa and a bicycle rider out of the way. This shot was called an 'establishing shot'. It will be used to establish that the following shot will take place in London. With a little luck, you'll be able to see my mug in the movie! That would rock!

Sounds like me and my Mini got hired for another job today. Keep your fingers crossed for me. This is a big job and if it goes well, it should finance the completion of my turbo motor...

Good eye!

My friends wagon was in Miniworld a little more than a year ago. And his Orange Moke was in the magazine just a few months ago.
