Ello, just come to the point where im starting to sort the wiring on my car. Yesterday i wired in the numberplate light, connected up the headlights and that all worked!

Went to do a bit more today and checked to see if its all working still which it was, then carried on by connecting the side repeaters and indicators. The only way i could test them was using the hazards as for some reason the indicators arent working yet which is what i moved on to next.

Checked everything over again and... the headlights now barely work, the hazards dont work and the numberplate light doesnt work but thats on the lights circuit anyway!

Checked everything over again, solid main earth for the lights at the front and no loose connections, now the sidelights dont come on, but do when the dip beam is applied. However they are very dim, and one dip beam is bright the other is very dull! Move on to full beam and the bright one goes to full beam and the other stays dim! The flash doesnt work, and while all this is happening no lights on the rear are working!!

Took a diagnostic pen to the switch which seems to be ok, it has a constant live on the middle wire on the back of it im not sure if thats right though...

And i get nout when using the diag. pen on the hazard switch!!!*indifferent*

Checked all fuses etc and the connections to them and they all seem to be ok! Really want to cry now as it seems its 1 step foward 3 backwards!

Anyone have any ideas as to what i should check/what the problem might be? Any pics of the way your headlights and indicators are wired would be great just so i can double check!

As my car was built from odds and ends from the previous owner im only slightly sure what Ive been looking at the right wiring diagram in the hbol!

Shropshire.

Some of the problems sound like a missed earth.. the power going from one point and looping to next available in the circuit.

I have checked the main earth for the junction for the lights and indicators etc for the front and its all secure!

This is how I have it all wired:

Anyone see anything obvious? When the switch is a dip beam the headlights come on as required, they flash ok and go to main beam ok aswell now. However the sidelights dont come on when the switch is at sidelights, but when this switch is set to dip/main beam and I pull the earth connector out the headlights go out and the sidelights come on!!!

Still no luck with any of the lights at the rear or the hazards/indicators

Did touch anything, flipped the indicator up and the right indicator flashes, flipped it down and the left indicator just stays on! Went to see if the hazards where now working, nothing and now the indicators arent working again, what the fuck lol
