Here is mine. I didn't know about putting the RH plate in at an angle hence how I did mine. Will have to see when the engine goes in how much room there is. I have left it big so you can see the detail.

Tom, id get that plate in now or you'll be very annoyed later on! trust me!! The air pipe is very tight just there as it is although if your going for a front rad you may be ok thinking about it but still not sure, better to have too much space than too little

Iain sure seems to be taking his sweet time on fixing these pics LOL!

Well, here is mine that I did over a decade ago...

Not that I fabricated up an additional mount for the 'ultimate' engine steady; which was then welded to the cross-member. Very, very strong. *smiley*

Dave or anyone else,

I think I am going to give it a go at fabricating my own. From reading through some old posts and cruising the web I have gathered that it should be about 37cm wide by 5cm deep by 16cm high. Sound about right?

Matt

Anyone else?

Now then - if you are serious about making your own - then user 'BROCKY' had a good idea when he made his. He made it a little deeper than normal, and also made the bottom surface at an angle so rainwater and whatever wouldn't sit on the surface.

Are you LHD or RHD?

reading this thread i now realise how little room i have for the turbo and the actuator. my car is a LHD.
at the moment i have a brakeservo but i want to get rid off it to get a cleaner looking enginebay. but is there any room to put the clutch and brake resevoir above the pedals ?????

there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

That is all you need. Nothing more. nothing less. That proves it can be done.

@Turbo dave: i saw the link before. but now i see that he started without the servo. so i will swop from servo to non servo brakes first. so when it's time to make the turbo box i see what i cab cut away.

@iain: i've seen mirage manifolds before. but that will mean extra cost's and apperantly the stock metro flows better. so thats a bonus to.

but thanx for the response

i knew that someone had a turbo in his lhd. so i emailed i's and this what i got back:

he tilted the block slightly forward and got enough room to get his hand between actuator and bulkhead.

so that is one more "problem"of my list

there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

Nic got second in this year's Mini showdown with the Mirage manifolds. 13.6sec quarter was it? So, I don't think you should worry too much about that!

at the moment it's a standerd 1000cc , so the power output of a turbo will be just fine for me:cool:
standerd or mirage...........
