no doubt its a good engine but.... wont make more power than a GOOD A series turbo motor

i personaly would be going V tec and blowing that

but if you have the engine ..............
only my opinion though

please keep us posted carl

i think the starlets are very good Ben, you'd be suprised!!

good choice and cant blame you to be honest.

going to be interesting, and we also know that you will be giving it a pasting and can compare to your old A series

very very very bad man....... Steve, to be fair i reckon ure reliablity / BHP ratio would be a smaller margin than what Carl might get from a modern Jap motor, although BHP is great to us all, i reckon if he wants is as a rapid daily drive then more power to him, go for it mate *wink* what are you doing with ure A series stuff carl ? iam after a set of straight cut drops, 1:3 ratio rockers and a lightened flywheel, then i can finish mine *wink*

not to bothered by the bhp (just yet) i will be putting it in standard at first so im expecting it to be alot slower than my a series. i work at a toyota garage so this seems the logical thing to do, vtec stuff all a bit expensive really.

they have about 132bhp standard not sure on torque but its not a lot the turbos tiny.

have a look on here for bhps and 1/4 mile times, looks promising but itll be a long time till im tuning it i think.
http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/showthread.php?t=17

im putting my a series back together and putting back in the car for now untill the toyota frame is made. then ill be ebaying the whole a series package hopefully this way ill get more mioney than spliting it. sorry richie.

ive already passed on my spares department to minimadj.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

as much as it pains me to say it, i think this is a good conversion

Ive always been a starlet fan, and you can get some big power from the 1.3 engines, keeping it 1.3 is quite nice too

Lots of potential, and hopefully lots of reliability

I think that one of them in aus is well into the 13s 1/4's and i dont remember the spec being that fancy

I know youll make a good job of it too carl, make it happen

Good on you Carl.

I'm a fan of doing whatever the fudge you want to your own car. And if changing the 1950's vintage technology with a 1980's equivalent floats your boat then that is cool.

You got any A-series bits left over (blocks, cranks, trans) that are available? If so, send me PM *wink*

An expected comment from some one who shoe horned an 8 valve vauxhal engine under a standard steel round nose, Ive seen the work and Fuck knows how you managed that. Tight as a tight thing in a tight place.

These conversions dont bother me, I just wouldnt do one, its missing the point. Each to their own.

Carl, you have my blessing as long as you keep the steel front and it looks normal from the outside *wink*

I agree with Sprocket, only worth doing if it fits under a standard length front. Those extended fronts just look wank.

1.25" extension is about all I'll allow you Carl. You really can't tell 1.25". 1.5" is not easy to tell, but is apparant from some angles. 2" or more and it should be in a cluman front IMO.

Fact is - I prefer the 'bugeye' but I'd sooner see a clubby front than a 2" (or more) longer nose...
