to be honest not realy done much on it, money and time seem to be gone on crimbo at the moment. had engine in and out few times. subby in and out few times lol

been having nightmeres about engine posistioning, is it to high? is it to low? etc etc. id like the engine a little further back to be honest as the driveshafts are on a little bit of an angle. but to get it furher back means id have to lower it by a inch or so which means me sump/diff would be scraping the deck. ill have to see. lol lots of sleepless nights.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

you say you had 4-5 inches of travel on the sump and diff, i only have about 3 1/2 inches of travel between my sump and the floor. i can get over speed bumps just fine for the sump but i catch on the exhaust unless i go over at an angle :)

if its any help, i havnt seen a single hybrid mini that doesnt have the driveshafts sweeping back towards teh hubs, even slightly, mine included :) if you set the hight of the engine such that the driveshafts are straight on the horisontal plane at your ideal running hight youv got the best compromise you can :)

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

welll finally making some progress.

had a bit of a nightmare with me engine really. when i bought the half cut toyota i knew the engine was knocking and the fella gave me a spare good block. anyway it turned out that this was also knackered, doh. luckily i had bought a n/a version of the engine on ebay for £20, lol i dont know why i even bidded on it but luckily i did. now the blocks on the turbo and n/a are different everything is in the same place but there is a few differences anyway i managed to have the holes which were needed drilled/tapped. the oil pumps are different and not interchangable so ive got my fingures crossed the n/a one will be upto the job. the conrods and pistons are different but the bore and stroke are the same and the crankshaft is the same so i managed to build a complete engine to turbo spec hopefully.lol completely rebuilt with new bearings gaskets rings etc .

heres a few pics

finally got my subby finished

then got brake/clutch pipes fitted

then got engine fitted

got lots to do yet but getting there i think.*smiley*

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

My engine sits a tad to low, 5 cm from the ground slammed on 10"s will raise it abot 1" or so,
you could make slots in the engine mount brackets and take the holesaw to some 5 mm alloy sheet, then it´s easy to muck the engine around/lift it etc. (i have this on my allspeed frame), very handy when you change/adding stuff to the engine…

by the way –top job looking great:cool:

SKYLINES ARE LIKE CLITS, EVERY FLANGE SEEMS TO HAVE ONE: see this sticker on my silvia

the Search-section on this forum is blummin superb & simple to use, unlike some other forums, without the search-section & the help of this bunch of chaps on here i'll never be able to !!!Start the day with a 998cc turbo!!! :) i'm getting closer though!

Quiksteel is a marvelous thing. LOL

Well, what carl did was cut his shafts to about the right sizes length wise, and his attempts to weld them were far from......strong.
Any way, turned a large chamfer on both shafts clocked em up and doweled em. welded the recess, machined that back and for good measure sleeved it as well.

I think i got em running better than the BL original. But i think carls having them as a temporary solution until he can afford billet ones.

well had it running for about an hour today, had dirty oil squirting out of the turbo (not put pipes on yet) at first but it stopped after a while and the engine oils new so i think it was just old oil in turbo. radiator only just seems to be coping so ill have to just suck it and see the fan cuts very often but temps staying in middle so im crossing fingures. wirings mostly done got hubs shfts in so not that far off really.
