Hi all,

Have been lurking on the forum over the last couple of months. Been enjoying all the tech posts from other peoples builds and experiences. Certainly some quick flying bricks on this site and plenty of good practical advice.

My own mini project has been a long time coming. I brought a 64 Morris Mk1 around 1995. The intention then was to do a Cooper S rep as you do. But by the time I got around 2nd parts prices hit the roof.

Rather than building a Cooper S rep, decided to go Turbo route. I acquired an engine based on the 1300GT block, it uses Metro Turbo carb / manifold and a smaller IHI turbo (Mazda MX6).The idea behind that was to tilt the engine forward rather than install turbo box into firewall. Gearbox uses JK SC/CR internals but still retains syncro.

I haven't sorted which diff to use yet, Was thinking LSD setup with "Road" ramps or X-pin. Opinions welcome on this. I do have a couple of sets of Hardy Spicer U/V's and LSD ouput shafts. Unfortunately Mini LSD's in NZ are as rear as hens teeth.

Ratio wise will come down to the brake / wheel combo
I'll either go S dics / 10X6 inch or Metro 4pot / 13inch X7 route.

Body wise I have a couple of options; I've got a 63 MK1 "racer" body & a 64 Morris 850 body.

Either way I'll end up building one club car and one street car.... The question is which Mini should have the turbo ? *indifferent*

Welcome to Tm.

Your lucky to have a choice of which to build, I'd build the best condition shell first as a turbo, then umm and ahh over what to put in the second one then just end up turboing it..lol
