I think I'm showing a lack of imagination here. I'm off to the US for a couple of weeks working soon, and am struggling to think of geniune worthwhile bargains to hunt down while I'm over there to take advantage of the exchange rate.

Might be worth posting stuff back to yourself and underdeclaring the value?

If you can't think of anything to buy yourself, then but some cheap rods and pistons for a jap motor - dirt cheap in USA.

Axel has a point - Think of 'heavy-ish' or 'bulky' stuff as the best bet.

Ipods, Apple stuff, and Bose speakers. The prices for these things are like 50% of what you would pay for them in the UK. And from what I hear, all Apple stuff sold in the UK has American plugs anyway...so there is no diff. Oh man. I survived almost solely on Lucky Charms in my college days. It has so much sugar, they can't advertise it to kids here. It's like 50% sugar marshmallow.

Food is always the thing you miss when you move countries. When we went from UK to Australia we missed all the usual Carbury's buttons, caramac and so on now we are getting all the Aussie stuff sent over here! On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:
