Its been needed for sometime and i finally pulled the finger out!

Had the rocker cover welded up at work and is top quality! working in aerospace does have its perks!

Hopefully my mate will have the catch tank and pipes installed properly as im off on the piss to dublin next week and not back until friday night, so early start for coombe will be fun!

Hopefully see some of you there!?

Looks good, I just hope you really need one *wink* as you don't want to cool the oil down tooooooo much.

Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

im sure you can get a thermostat for the oil for around 100 degrees C.

not sure were to get one though as all the ones i have seen are 70 derees C or somthing for race engines that get oil changes all the time etc.

your install looks very nice by the way mate.

cheers

thinkauto sell the thermostats for 92degrees which is apparently the perfect temp for oil (performance wise)

92 deg C is much more like it. In normal OEM set ups they aim at the 105 - 110 deg C ish bracket to boil off any water, light oil fractions (such as petrol) and impuraties in the oil to extend service intervals.

Oil temps between 100 and 130 deg are deemed acceptable. As an example my standard Golf Gti used to show 102 when cruzing, 130 when hoping not to meet a police man!

My Mini runs the think 92 deg stat and to be fair it isn't ..... I get nominal oil temps of around 98 deg C on the motorway and upto 125 deg C with a good hard thrash. That is perfectly acceptable to me and yes I have checked my gauge calibration .... on the money.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

It's not on the motorway it gets hot .... it's when you suddenly come to a stop and sit there without moving for several hours ...... in London they call it the rush hour .... like it's only an hour ..LOL

it was running quite hot, but i think it was due to it breathing very heavily and only having the one breather from the transfer case! next job on the list is to do all that, it performed alright yesterday at coombe tho!
