I've recently just fitted my fibreglass flipfront and i have some fibreglass sportspack arches on order.. But now i have a funny feeling that the arch might cover the lower dzus fastener.. But i dont think i can really move the dzus fastener any higher really.
What do you guys think? any advice?

Thanks, shaun.

Hi,
I suspect you might be right about the arch obscuring the fastener, how about leaving the fastener where it is and drilling a small access hole through the arch to allow you to get your screwdriver through it to the fastener underneath?

Regards

Neil

Part of the reason why I haven't touched my wings or rear quarters is that I have been waiting for the body kit to arrive so I could avoid such issues.

You could always consider re-mounting the front using a method like that described on the Manchester Minis site (far better IMHO anyway) or going for some slightly less bulky arches.

Neil's suggestion would probably sort the issue for you but it might look a bit naff if the rest of the car is going to be to a high standard (and with the fit you have on that front end there is no reason it couldn't be doen to a very high standard indeed!!!)

Wont you be able to get a stubby flat head under the arch to undo the clip?

Btw what width wheels are you running, have you cut back the arch for clearence on lock? That might bring it closer to the dzus aswell depending how much you need to take off!

I really should have thought about this before lol. Yer Rich, if the arch covers the whole dzus then i think that should work.
I was planning on running 7x13s and i havent trimmed the arch yet because i have no weight at the front, dont think i would need to trip the arch that far back though would i?
If these arches dont goto plan then i think i will go for something smaller like w&p or grp2 arches over 6x12s.
Im gonna go ahead and paint the front because i dont really want to be messing around with how its fitted because its a good fit at the moment, dont want to ruin that *tongue*
I'll just have to see what its like when the arches come(not in stock untill 2 weeks from custom minis at the moment).

Cheers for the ideas,
Shaun.

Yer i did think that, but i dont want to cut a hole in it just in case i decide to adjust the sportspack arch a little to make it sit lower to clear the dzus.

Cant really remember but I think it might be the front of the arch that needs trimming for clearence with 7" rims. So you could get some and just shave off what you need to instead of going all the way round taking 1" 1/2 like i did! So you wouldnt have to worry about it coming too close to the dzus then.

I wouldnt worry about the dzus being under the arch, hides it so it looks better! And im sure you can get in there with a stubby anyway. Worse comes to worse you could use one of those Aeroquip catches or whatever theyre called and do away with the dzus's

Shaun,

If I was you I'd consider NOT fitting 7" wide rims in the first place as they will make the car handle like a drunk Hippo!!! By the sounds of it you haven't bought the wheels yet so still ahve the opertunity to get something else.

6" (assuming 13" diameter) rim with as close to an ET20 arch as possible will give you the best combination of tire control, grip, handling all without the forearm work out 7"s would ahve given you. You can get those under Grp2s with a trim strip on.
If you want to see what they would look like with 6" / ET20s under SP arches it is worth remembering that the standard SP wheel was 6" by ET20 ..... for a reason too!!!
To my eyes they are over arched with SP arches but there are reasons Rover had to do that if they wanted to sell the car in certain countries.
I have a friend who is about the slightest built young lady your ever likely to meet outside an eating disorder clinic and she has no problems at all driving her 40LE but can't even turn the wheel on our friends car with 13x7s on!!!!!!!

At the end of the day it's your car so your choice, all we can do is tell you what we know.
