Hi-question to all:

Using a 2" downpipe with potjoint universals-looks like a tight fit. What's the best way to make the clearance?seems like a tight fit to me-any suggestions?Any body else use this set-up?How did you make the clearance? This is for a MK 1 subframe.......

Thanks-Garry

It is very tight yes but most people get them to fit with out moding them, mine went straight in.

bend the braket that holds it at the bottom a bit and it will fit fine if its the mini one but if it the metro one you will need to put a dent in the floor where it hits

My Maniflow down pipe fits my MK2 no problem.
Tight yes, but fits.

Sometimes the 'ball' touches the underside of the tunnel, giving problems...
In this case, I identify where more clearaqnce is needed in the tunnel, and with an appropriate short length of 2x2, jack up the car at the tunnel in the offending area. It doesn't need much, and certainly you don't need to get the wheels clear of the ground, but it gives up to 20mm extra clearance in that local area!
