Ok, my previous best 1/4 was:
60ft = 2.175
1/8 et = 8.631
1/8 mph = 83.76
1/4 et = 13.42
1/4 mph = 101

Now Ive run:
60ft = 2.180
1/8 et = 8.583
1/8 mph = 83.48
1/4 et = 13.40
1/4 mph = 99.79

How is the time quicker but speed slower?
Gav has run top speeds of 106mph with 13.3 et but his 13.17 et had a top speed of only 104.42.

Baffled

I seriously doubt it!

Paul - we need the time/speed betwee nthe 1/8 and the 1/4 - was this with the altered gearing?

JK

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

i dont have that info for the 13.42. Yes the gearing is altered, it was 4.15 now a 3.97

hard to say without analysing the power/torque curve but it looks like the fd ratio is not too sensitive between 4.1/3.9 - more power needed to get into the 12's I'm afraid. Given that Gav's car has similar power but 40-50%+ less frontal area than yours, you can see that the same power will only ever take you as far as 13.1's with good aero + light weight
If you are determined to keep your 5 porter you need to let SC map your motor properly!

The car will go faster John, the engine isnt performing at the moment, its down on power. rebuilding it shortly, maybe in time for Avon in 3 weeks and also fit the new gearbox too.
So Im not too worried about trying to get in the 12s at the moment, I just cannot understand that Ive gone faster with less power and with a lower speed.

Generally speaking, and it can seem odd to try and understand this. But a faster ET, will generally have a slower trap speed.

Its because the ET is gained, from going much faster at the start of the track, covering more ground, for a given speed increase.
So in latter parts of the track, you are actually further up the track, for any given speed.

Its odd...because you can have crap launch, smoke the tyres a lot, yet trap speeds generally stay pretty consistent if you dont muck things up. Yet the ET on that run will suffer greatly.

speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will
