Need a set of Rings for I believe are Omega Forged Pistons. They have the following markings on the top... Omega 3072 + 0.20
Minispares had rings for cast pistons, but didn't know if they fit mine. Emailed Omega direct & got the following answer....
The pistons you have quoted have not been manufactured for some time and we currently do not have these in stock or any outstanding orders,To make just one set will make these very expensive. We have produced an alternative deep dished forged piston for Turbo applications which we would normally supply to MED who may have these in stock.

I haven't yet contacted MED as I don't want new pistons!
Any advice welcome..........

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

You still need to provide Total Seal with rings for them to modify if it's not a very usual ringset.

I dont think that is what Sprocket experienced when he bought rings from them before. That was to a 1400 engine.

I thought all the omega ring packes were the same,

except for being different bore sizes.

don't the minispares mega pistons use omega ring packs?

Omega changed there ring supplier, and if you have a reasonably old set of thier pistons, Like my 74mm pistons, chances are their current ring sets womt fit. You have already phoned Omega and they have said the dont have any, id be inclined to believe them.

I found http://www.performanceunlimited.co.uk/Contents.htm was a UK supplier of http://www.totalseal.com ring sets. Phoned them up and put the question to him. I had to measure the ring groove widths and depths, told him which type of top middle and bottom rings I wanted and told him the bore size. Said no problem, one week lated I had a custom ring pack in my hands shipped in from the USA.

Total Seal are HUGE, id be surprised if there wasnt a ring they could provide.

I recently bought a set of the gapless rings for the standard Turbo piston, the ones for the 1400 were conventional. Both sets cost about £85, maybe a little steep, but if they are NLA or your after the gappless rings, your going to have to pay

Cheers ... it was the uk importer I wanted. I really, really don't like dealing internationally.

I think its a case of pull pistons out and see a local supplier. A little birdy has said they are the same as cast pistons as mini13 said
