*graunch*wince*

So I managed to shag the nut/bolt on the master brake cyl. Can't get the bugger to budge. I've tried penetrating oil, had it in the vice, over the hob, back in the vice ad infinitum. Is there anything else I could be trying?

*carefully* cut a slot on one of the flats on the nut (be careful not to go to deep).

And then use a sharp chisel give it a tap it will either open out or undo...or thinking about probably a bit of both..lol

A bit of heat might help, but I would avoid as there would probably stil be some brake/clutch fluid in there, not too sure what kinda fumes it would give off?

Or try vinegar.. keep brushing it on.. Then leave it, put some more on, leave It etc.. then try... but be Patient for it to Do its work..
Works for me all the Tme....
But like i said, be patient...
Then i would put a smaller spanner OR A socket on The nut, bang it over the Nut, so its Tight, then place in the vice, Then start Hitting the spanner the way The nut Comes off... worked for me.

Left it over night, got the pipe wrench on this morning which has done the job.

Should there be a little plastic bit in the neck though? Looking down the clutch cylinder there is nothing.

No plastic bit should be in there.

If you are going to use that master cylinder again inspect it CAREFULLY. they rust away at the bottom, if it feels thin, bin it.

I have a few M/Cyl bodies all good. I am only about 15 miles from you. Come and have a look, won't cost a lot.
PM if you are interested.

Strange, poking the little plastic bit it displaces about 2mm then returns as if its spring loaded. Anyway connected it up and bled the brakes and it feels fairly firm, wont be able to tell for sure until its driven though I guess.
