With the Lotus sold, I bought a new car..

TVR Chimaera 430 BV.

Totally different to anything I've ever driven. Feels like a big lazy muscle car.. *happy*

Brings back memories, mine was BRG with tan interior.

Once you get used to them they are quite easy to drive. Yours should have power steering, mine didn't and was far to heavy on the wheel for Candice to drive quickly. Part of the reason it was sold for make way for another Porker.

They aren't as bad reliability wise as some would have you belive but do keep an eye on the elctrics .... as soon as something starts to play up get it checked out as even if it's something your not bothered about you can rest assured something nasty is brewing!

A nice colour too by the way

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Looks great mate, one thing to watch is the amount of engine braking available can make the back end unstable if you change down too early/quickly whilst braking, other than that get out there and waste some super unleaded.

Another good point to watch out for are tyres ..... quite a few people make the mistake of fitting a square edged profile and they really don't like it. I had Bridgestone SO2s on mine .... gripped like crazy.

Tom is correct about the engine braking (and watch out for transmission shunt too) but if you run into that problem you are driving it all wrong. It is very much a brake with the brakes sort of car, get it all done in a straight line, turn in an a slightly trailling throttle then gradually feed it in through the Apex and it will reward you with a nice little shake of the tail before demanding another cog. Classic style all the way with them as they are abit nose heavy to be throwing around.

Still great to drive, probably more fun than a Porsche on the road as you can use all it's got.

Forgot to mention the brakes, check to see if the original Sierra calipers have been upgraded. Quite a few cars have had an upgrade to Cossie bits and this makes a fair difference but if not remember it's all 2l Sierra bits under there so buying an upgrade for a Sierra will save you a small fortune compared to identical bits packaged as a TVR upgrade.
Rear brakes are fine but calipers can sieze if left with the handbrake on for long periods, best to choke the wheels when stored for any length of time.

Oh yes, if the engine mounts haven't been changed theywill be knackered .. trust me they struggle. Change them before they fail as they can cause problems with other things (mainly exhaust headers) if they let go. Get the gearbox mount done at the same time as if that fails it is possible for the tail of the box to move enough to load the prop ... which gets expensive.

I like them both for different reasons.
Lotus is great, buzzy fun, and the tvr is is a heavy cruiser muscle car.

TVR feels much more special to be in, though.

Still can't get over the noise either.

Oh, and I know it's an ugly car (from some angles) but the wonderful interior more than makes up for it.
