I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

If you can weld a nut or something onto it, you might extract it like that.

But drilling it out is an option....a difficult one at times.

Buy a very good drill bit, if you can, a proper carbide bit. These will drill through even the hardest steel.

You can then either drill it out entirely, or drill just big enough and run a tap through the hole to reclaim or re-cut new threads.

You won't put a bigger bolt in, there isn't room in the casting.

Good luck drilling them out, the heat cycling makes them go pot hard, you'll probably find you can't touch it with a normal drill bit, as Stevie says you will prob need a carbide bit.

Welding a nut to it is a good thing to try first, the heat from the welder will assist you trying to get it free.

if it was me, i'd use one of my other spare turbos. failing that welding a nut on sounds a good idea and add some extra heat for good measure

I had to drill 3 of mine out, the drill bit was about 10mm shorter by the end as it had to be re-sharpened so many times! *laughing*

It was a mission but do-able. *oh well*

Just remember if you drill the stud out don't start drilling what looks to be the centre of the stud as it isn't the centre (if that makes any sense) you have to take into consideration the thread depth that will be visable on one side but not the other!

Start with a small pilot drill then go from there.

Use a pilot drill first as matty says to be safe. If you lucky you maybe able to use those stub extractors.
What turbo is it? Thought elbows had round hole.....

Get the carbide drill bit though....they are awesome !!!

A bolt snapped off in my supercharger recently, so I tried to drill, then use an easy-out exctractor.

its worth noting, when using such tools, it pays to buy quality ones and not cheap pish....because the exctractor broke in the bolt I was trying to remove :(

The carbide drill drilled through it with ease !!!!!! Finally got the bolt out :)

A masonry bit is carbide at the end so grinding the right angle on will make it possible to use on steels. *wink*
