I've recently bought an electric windows kit for use in my own car, I've always wanted this, and central locking.

Obviously central locking does not save weight in fact it adds it, but the elec window kit does away with the huge window mechanism and arms, gears etc.

Was discussing this with Nic on sunday, he asked me to weigh the elec window mech.

For each door, 1.5kg.

I don't know what the standard item weighs but I do know it is a lot more than 1.5kg...........

One to think about for you lightweight boys still wanting to have moving windows?

It may do if tom had to push his mini out of the garage to get to the box with the in, possibly 2m closer???? *tongue*

I spent an afternoon attacking my winder with the holesaw and various drill bits and saved as much weight as cutting my finger nails
